OPEN MIC REMINDER | VOLUME 14.
2009:
It's exciting how much we've grown in just a year. Every month we have had at least one new musician grace our stage. Repeat performers continue to challenge themselves as well as the audience with new instrumentation (we had our first keyboard in December!), collaborations, and material spanning so many genres! In December I encouraged performers to go out and meet other performers and try a collaboration for next month. I predict 2009 will be a year of more and more experimentation... and I hope you come along for the ride.
BLOG:
Occasionally I believe I have something profound to say and if I can manage to organize my thoughts and put them into words that are coherent and (hopefully) of interest to someone they wind up here. Last month, after a conversation with local writer, Brian Cox, about the good and the bad of Open Mic performances, I organized what I hope is aptly titled - The Open Mic Handbook (aka Open Mics for Dummies). I thought y'all might find it entertaining.
THE NEXT 'FIRST SATURDAYS' OPEN MIC:
SATURDAY, JANUARY 3rd, FROM 6-8PM (with SIGN-UP BEGINNING AT 5:30) held, as always, at Evanston's favorite Coffee House, BROTHERS K, located at 500 Main Street, just 1 block from the Metra and El stations.
Thanks, as always, for everyone's time and support.
Your host,
Thomas Cray
